Washington, D.C. (June 13, 2025) — The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) will host its next “Coffee Connections” event, a special advocacy-focused edition, on Thursday, June 26, 2025, from 3:00 to 4:00 PM ET. This free, virtual gathering will bring together professionals, advocates, individuals in recovery, and community leaders to discuss key policy issues and strengthen collective advocacy for substance use care.
Held on Zoom, Coffee Connections: Advocacy in the Substance Use and Recovery Field is designed to foster open conversation, provide timely updates on national advocacy efforts, and elevate the voices of local leaders and community members. NCADD will present its 2025 advocacy priorities and invite participants to share local insights, emerging challenges, and grassroots solutions.
“2025 is a pivotal year,” said Denise L. Kolivoski, MBA, Executive Director of NCADD. “Funding remains fragile, stigma continues to block access to care, and workforce shortages are escalating. This forum is about turning shared challenges into coordinated action and bringing grassroots advocacy to the forefront.”
Key focus areas of the session will include securing sustainable and equitable funding across the full continuum of care, advancing stigma reduction through policy and language change, and strengthening the behavioral health workforce with meaningful investments in recruitment, retention, and career pathways. The agenda also includes dedicated time for group discussion to surface local stories, advocacy needs, and actionable next steps.
This interactive event is open to all—NCADD affiliates, community-based providers, peer support workers, prevention professionals, family advocates, and anyone passionate about improving substance use care.
