Baltimore, MD – The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) is proud to participate in the 2025 Tuerk Conference on Mental Health and Treatment, hosted by NCADD Maryland. This year’s theme, Hope and New Opportunities in 2025, highlights ongoing advancements in education, policy, and recovery support.
The Tuerk Conference, a leading event for professionals, advocates, and community leaders, will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM at the Baltimore Convention Center (Pratt and Sharp Streets). The event will feature distinguished plenary speakers, including:
- Sara Whaley, MSW, MPH, MA – City of Baltimore
- Brandon Scott – Mayor of Baltimore, MD
- Dr. Wilson Compton – National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
- Christina Dent – Author, TEDx Speaker

NCADD’s Exclusive Involvement at Tuerk 2025

Additionally, NCADD will host exclusive events during the conference to foster leadership, networking, and policy engagement:
- Monday, April 28 – NCADD Affiliate Dinner (Evening) – A networking event in a relaxed setting for collaboration and connection.
- Tuesday, April 29 – NCADD National Workshop (2:00 PM, Hybrid Format) – A deep dive into advocacy initiatives and national policy efforts.
- Wednesday, April 30 – NCADD Advocacy Day (Hybrid, Ends at Noon) – A hands-on opportunity to engage with policymakers and drive meaningful change.
NCADD National Workshop: A Deep Dive into Advocacy and Policy
Join Denise L. Kolivoski, MBA, NCADD National Executive Director, on Tuesday, April 29, at 2:00 PM for a comprehensive update on national advocacy initiatives and recovery efforts, celebrating more than 80 years of impact. This session will highlight:
- Key advocacy strategies shaping public health policy
- Current policy challenges affecting services and support networks
- Opportunities to drive meaningful change in 2025 and beyond
We are also honored to welcome Ann Ciekot, Founder of Public Policy Partners, who will share her expertise on effective advocacy approaches and influencing policy decisions.
Following the discussion, participants will take part in a round-robin networking session, where affiliate directors from across the country will exchange ideas, share insights, and explore the benefits of joining the advocacy movement.
