NCADD Partners with Mothers Against Addiction to Strengthen Family Support and Recovery Resources

Baltimore, MD (Nov. 1, 2024) — The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) is pleased to announce its new partnership with Mothers Against Addiction, uniting two strong advocates for family and community wellness. This collaboration aims to expand resources, raise awareness, and bolster support systems for families and individuals impacted by substance use challenges across the nation.

With a shared dedication to breaking the stigma around substance dependence and improving access to effective treatment and recovery programs, NCADD and Mothers Against Addiction will work together to deliver community-focused initiatives centered on education, advocacy, and family support.

Denise L. Kolivoski, MBA, Executive Director of NCADD, emphasized the importance of this partnership, stating, “This partnership allows us to extend vital support to families facing the effects of substance use. Together, we can foster open discussions, advocate for impactful policy changes, and ensure that those in need of help know they are not alone.”

The collaboration will concentrate on several key initiatives, including:

  • Enhanced Family Support Programs: Combining resources to expand family support groups, providing education and emotional assistance to parents, caregivers, and loved ones of those experiencing substance dependence.
  • Community Outreach and Education: Launching workshops and informational sessions in schools, workplaces, and local communities to educate the public on prevention, early intervention, and accessible treatment options.
  • Policy Advocacy for Health and Recovery Services: Working closely with policymakers to advocate for legislation that broadens access to mental health and recovery services, particularly for underserved populations.
  • Stigma Reduction Campaigns: Creating nationwide campaigns that challenge the negative perceptions surrounding substance use, emphasizing recovery as a journey and reinforcing that overcoming dependency is achievable with the right support.

Together, NCADD and Mothers Against Addiction aim to build a more informed and compassionate community that actively supports recovery and well-being.
