NCADD Celebrates National Recovery Month and 80 Years of Advocacy: Recovery is Stronger Together

Washington, D.C. – September, 2024 – This September, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence (NCADD) celebrates both National Recovery Month and its upcoming 80th anniversary. Since 1944, NCADD has remained at the forefront of recovery advocacy, education, and support. This year, the organization continues to embrace the legacy of its visionary founder, Mrs. Marty Mann, who believed that recovery is possible through whatever means an individual chooses. Her dream lives on as NCADD pursues the goal of accessible recovery for all, free from stigma and judgment.

The theme of National Recovery Month, Recovery is Stronger Together, highlights the importance of community and collective action in supporting those on their recovery journeys. NCADD, with over 25 affiliates across more than 15 states, proudly spreads this message and leads the charge in bringing recovery, education, and advocacy to the forefront.

Denise L. Kolivoski, MBA, NCADD Executive Director, spoke to the ongoing need for comprehensive support:

“As we mark NCADD’s 80th anniversary, we remain deeply committed to the vision of
Mrs. Marty Mann. Recovery is achievable, and it can take many forms. We must come together to ensure that everyone has access to the resources they need, without stigma or barriers. Our message is clear: Recovery is Stronger Together.”

In honor of National Recovery Month, NCADD will host a special webinar, Recovery is Stronger Together: Leading with Positive Language, on Friday, September 27th at 12 PM EST (11 AM CST, 10 AM MST, 9 AM PST). This virtual event will feature key speakers in the field of recovery, including:
